Accept that perfection is not always required – accept help when offered – and ask for help when you need it – three very hard lessons it took me having twins a year ago to realise – I had spent the previous 33 years doing completely the opposite – such a waste

Taking the time to stop and look, really look at what is outside my window. The trees, the way they move in the wind, the sunlight glinting like diamonds on the snow, the colour of autumn leaves. The view changes each and every day, moment by moment throughout the day.
No matter how tired, no matter how busy I am looking at the nature that surrounds me…that keeps me going.

Not life-changing but useful! Tomato stains (eg baked beans , spaghetti ect.)will fade away when you dry your washing in the fresh air. It also works for stained nappies although there aren’t many of those around now!

  15. Nan says:

My tip for an easy life – have friends! We need someone to laugh with and cry with and to help us through life’s ups and downs. Having friends of ALL ages is what’s kept me going…my older friends blaze the trail for me, friends my same age commiserate with me, and younger friends help me to feel needed when I can offer support to them…You’ve GOT to have FRIENDS!!! xo, Nan

  16. Simone says:

When life gets on top of me I repeat the mantra ‘I am safe, in my place, in the Universe’ and feel the weight lift from my shoulders.

  17. judith says:

For me, having a hobby has made my life so much easier. When I am feeling down or need to de-stress I love to go to my room to sew and quilt. I completely relax and my worries disappear and it allows me the time to meditate, think and pray.

  18. Deb Paris says:

Taking each day as it comes without the expectations of getting everything on the list done. Using techniques, such as the “15 minute” trick — cleaning in an area with the timer set. When the timer goes off, you move on to the next task has helped me tremendously. And, most of all, finding joy in the day, even if it is only saying “thank you” and smiling when someone opens the door, makes a huge difference for me.

  19. Leesa Gentry says:

The one thing that has made my life better is the knowledge I have gained about perfection. We are all each and everyone of us perfect in every way. With all our quirks and odd habits and behaviors we are perfect. Spent so many years and so much time trying to make everything perfect and everyone happy that I couldn’t see that the only one not happy was me. Just life your life don’t run from it and the joy it can bring.

Other thing that has helped me is planning a weeks menus and then making my grocery list but the biggest part or most important part is making a list of what I wanted to make and what cookbook, website or recipe I intended to use. Can’t tell you how many times have found something in the pantry and can’t for the life of me remember why I purchased this item.

  20. Getting out and connecting with nature makes my problems disappear, gives me clarity and confidence to take the action I need to. It’s my daily power tool :)

  21. Vicki says:

When I feel down, in a funk, cranky, annoyed, depressed I find that I am thinking way to much about myself. I realize if I go and do something for someone else, some act of service for anyone other than myself my mind begins to clear and my attitude brightens. Call a friend you have been thinking about. Take a neighbor a snack. Write a note to a widow. Help a friend rearrange a room. Try and make someone smile back at you while shopping. There are millions of things you can do.Sometimes it just makes me feel wonderful and sometimes it makes me realize what I have on my plate is looking pretty dang good! Helping someone else (even if you are not in the mood) makes you, your family, friends and everyone else around you happy. I don’t mean happy feel good. I mean HAPPY life is wonderful, happy. You won’t know what I mean (or believe me) until you try it! Give it a go!

  22. Sue Hall says:

    Live for the moment.

Don’t plan too far ahead, and don’t dwell on the past. Live in the present, because it is just that a ‘present’ for you…enjoy it.

Use your best every day, don’t save it for a ‘special day’ that day may never come. So wear your best clothes, use your best crockery, drink out of your crystal glasses. Even a glass of water is special from a crystal glass with a slce of lemon.

Make each moment count. This really isn’t a dress rehearsal….this is life!!

    Sue xx

  23. Sue Hall says:

I forgot to say the ONE thing that makes my life easier is SATISFACTION. I am satisfied with what I have, I don’t strive to get more things, I don’t need them. I am happy in my own skin, because I have learnt to be satisfied with my life.

When you learn the difference between what you ‘want’ and what you ‘need’ you will be satisfied with what you have.

    Sue xx

  24. Carol says:

I say get a cleaner, and have hobbies. I like to do lots of things, not just one. I think that gives you more options.

  25. helen says:

something that makes life easier – When i get up (assuming one of the kids hasn’t beaten me in the waking up race!) i like to make a cuppa (a very important thing), and go and stand at the back door in my pj’s. It so loverly and quiet (well its the best you’ll get living near an airport), peaceful, breathing the crisp morning air, letting the chill make my skin tingle, sipping the hot tea, listening to the birds. Its a few minutes of reconecting with myself before the mad morning rush starts, always makes me calmer,

  26. Laura, Dorking says:

    Find a rich husband.

  27. Z says:

having a goal is the thing that drives all of mankind forward: if you’re depressed, set yourself a goal- it can be simple, like learning to cook a favourite dish or going out to 3 fringe theater shows, or a bit more complex like learning a new language or getting fit. the important thing is to pick something you can have fun doing, that you wake up and say “well, x, y and z are really getting me down today, but i have this to look forward to!”. try to do it regularly, at least once a week.

  28. carol scott says:

What makes my life easier is not sharing my dreams with critics, judges and doubting thomasina’s. Share your dreams, your fledgling ideas or new ventures with cheerleaders, optimists and can-doers.

  29. Deb says:

my tip is learning to LOVE yourself exactly as you are. Accept where you are and take it from there. Self love, self acceptance are the keys. We are all perfectly imperfect or imperfectly perfect.Whatever the question Love is the answer . Yoga, walking the dog and laughter are great for the soul. x

  30. Rachel says:

Some advice I was given when I´d two under three.

Is what you´re telling them off for going to affect them/be relevant in 10 years time?

That short statement helped me cut down the moans and enjoy the now a lot more.

  31. Ellen says:

I keep a gratitude journal, simply writing down 5 things I am grateful for each day. The first one for today will be seeing a giant rainbow this morning!
The bonus you receive is this: I now have a row of journals on the shelf by my bed with thousands of things I love. Focusing on gratitude makes my life so much better!
