Finzean was a strange addition to our little home back in June. He came in like a furry tornado. Gave poor old Harry a new lease on life for his last few weeks, scared the shit out of the cats and has caused general mayhem ever since.
Almost a pure bred polecat people have wondered what on earth we are doing having him as a house pet. Oh yes, he is a fully fledged house pet now and comes and goes in and out just like the cats. He is totally house-trained too, unlike poor old beloved Harry who was apt to leave little ‘gifts’ around the house.
There are, however, pros and cons to having the polecat.
These are just a few of the cons;
He steals EVERYTHING.
No food is safe;
A whole uncooked chicken can mysteriously leave the kitchen,
Baguettes are pinched on a daily basis.
An unguarded cup of coffee will be spotted and slurped before being knocked over as polecat gains a caffeine hit.
We have just had to get a new (read actually very old roll top tin ebay buy) bread bin to try to keep hold of at least some grain based products.
Biscuits, oh God, don’t get me on to the losses there. No biscuit tin is beyond this guy.
Erin’s extra large Hershey bar that came all the way from America and didn’t last 5 minutes on the last sleepover here.
Gin & Tonic, no, don’t ask…..
Bananas, grapes, apples, the fruit bowl on the kitchen table is a thing of the past.
Now on to the pros;
hmmmmmm, nothing coming to mind here.
Oh, that’s it, I almost forgot…..
He makes me laugh.

What does he make of visitors? Is he friendly to everyone, or does he have his likes & dislikes? He’s got a beautiful face – just brimming over with mischief – which sounds as if it’s an accurate description!
When anyone visits he pops into kitchen to see who it is and scuttles off. If he knows people he wants attention and begs like a dog. Doesn’t bite or anything, just wants to play and get treats.
He is a spoiled fat polecat.
Have a great weekend

Oh how the pros outway the cons……we all need something with such a gorgeous little face that can make us laugh.
