Some things you do once and even though you enjoy it you just don’t ever get around to doing it again. Thankfully this hasn’t been the case with the Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry. Last year Rosemary and I went and enjoyed the spectacular scenery and the amazing sound and light show. This year it was a thousand times better.
It was in a different location from last year, it was back in it’s original location of Faskally woods.
Some places are just special. This really was the most magical setting right on the little loch with a wooden bridge spanning the narrowest part with cascades of water pouring down the sides all around you and lights sparkling through the sheets of water like ancient glass.
Trees and shrubs lit from behind and below. From the tallest to the smallest. No detail overlooked, nothing too big and nothing too small.
Everything in nature illuminated with an artists’ eye and magicians’ mind.
We walked round in just under an hour, oohing and aahing as we went. Snapping photos and just being amazed.
Then we went round again. Silent, just looking and listening to the eirie music. Appreciating it in every possible way.
We were blessed with perfect weather, cold and crisp and dry.
Footsteps crunched on fallen leaves, breath misted the air before your face.
Looking upwards to star dotted sky peeping through the colour laden branches of the trees, some over 200 years old.
Textures and touch, colour and light, sound and motion, light and shade.
Sheer magic.
